Today’s topic is ………….. Adventuring, Exploration and Travel/ling

What are five [in your eyes only] top quality Adventure films? Star Wars Ep. 4 because a young man leaves his small town for the larger galaxy, saves a princess, and then blows up the Death Star; Raiders of the Lost Ark because Indiana Jones meets up with and outwits dangerous situations in order to complete his quest;  Alien because the ship’s crew have no idea what will happen with the alien on their ship, like how it’ll affect them, because it isn’t E.T.! Harry Potter and the Sorceror’s Stone because who doesn’t want to visit a magical realm? And The Martian, in which Matt Damon is left behind on Mars and has to fend for himself, without communications or many supplies.

[Please provide links and say why you think they are]

What would be your ideal Adventure [not holiday – Adventure] To explore the Grand  Canyon with a mule for transportation.

If you were planning your Adventure of a Lifetime which is the best season for you to go? Spring or fall.

What kind of activities do you enjoy doing and what would you never do? I like to explore new places, work on freeing myself from escape rooms, and reading books. I would never go hang gliding, skydiving (maybe I would), or ziplining.

If you could live anywhere in the world for a year out of the answers below, where would you choose? The forest.

In a Castle

Under the Sea

In a Forest Here.

In a Dungeon

On an Alien Planet

On the side of an Active Volcano

What are three great adventure quotes?

  1. “The purpose of life is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience.” — Eleanor Roosevelt;
  2. “Keep reading. It’s one of the most marvelous adventures that anyone can have.” — Lloyd Alexander
  3. “Until you step into the unknown, you don’t know what you’re made of.”
    Roy T. Bennett

America is named after? Amerigo Vespucci (I didn’t look it up.)

Who reached North America first out of the following people’s? Spanish

Spanish, British, Vikings, Portuguese

What was Christopher Columbus’s aim of  his second voyage to the New world? To collect cage-free eggs.

What happened to the Aztec capital of Tenochtitlan? It was converted to a Walmart.

What was the most exciting Adventure you have ever been on? Off-roading on ATVs (4x4s) in the Mojave desert.

Where in the world have you had the most fun exploring as an adult? Savannah, Georgia.

When in Rome, one does as the Roman’s do, however When on a Sandy Beach,  one does ……….. ? Sand a wooden object.

Whilst out and about exploring on an adventure, what is the most scariest thing that has happened to you? At one point when we were off-roading, I was afraid our vehicle would flip over.

Of the following choices which would you prefer to explore? Forgotten city.

A sunken city

A lost city

A forgotten city

An uninhabited island

Why did you pick your option above, what appealed? It would be interesting to see what the citizens’ welfare was, considering the entire world has completely forgotten about them for years and years. I’d be interested in how they live day-to-day without the things we take for granted:  phone, Internet, food. Or maybe they died out?

Would you rather swim with sharks or dolphins? Dolphins. They seem so peaceful.

What’s the worst piece of travel advice you have ever received? I don’t travel much, so I haven’t received much travel advice.

What’s the best piece of travel advice you have ever received? See above.

What is on the top of your bucket list? Going on safari in Tanzania. That would be so cool to see the animals in their habitat. And be just that much closer to them because the only thing separating you is the windows (of your transport)

Best musical track you can think of for each of the following: exploration, adventuring or travelling? [Please provide links]

  1. “The Devil’s Chasing Me” by the Reverend  Horton Heat (traveling)
  2. “Another One Bites the Dust” by Queen (adventure)
  3. “White Rabbit” by Jefferson Airplane (exploration)

How many countries [or States/Counties] have you visited – please list. I’ve been to 13 states: New York, New Jersey, California, Arizona, Texas, Ohio, Indiana, Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan, Georgia, Nevada, Colorado. I only counted states that I  actually visited, and not states that I’ve driven through while on a  road trip. I’ve only been to 2 countries: the Philippines and Canada.

Three items you simply could not travel without? Phone, laptop, hand lotion.

  1. Great answers, although the vikings got here before the Spanish. Speaking from experience, a Tanzanian safari is awesome, amazing, incredible, beautiful!

    1. Oh, haha! I didn’t think the different peoples were in any order. 🤪 I’ve only seen pictures of a Tanzanian safari because a friend went on one a few times. I’d like to see that beauty in real life!
