Working on Us, Week 3

On her blog, Beckie of Beckie’s Mental Mess has introduced a set of prompts that touches on mental illness. Each week she offers up 2 prompts for bloggers to use in a nonfiction, fiction, or poetry piece. You can respond to either prompt, or both. For more information and the guidelines, click here. This week, I am going to respond to Prompt 2, a photo prompt.

The rainbow evokes feelings of grief, sadness, and in me. I am reminded of the metaphorical Rainbow Bridge that pets cross once they’ve passed away, to the place where we will all eventually be reunited. Three of our 4 cats have crossed, and when I see pictures of them on Facebook Memories, my heart breaks each time.

    1. Yes, me too. I don’t believe in heaven or hell, but I like to believe there’s a rainbow bridge lol! Btw, your comment just now came through my notifications.

  1. Aww, this is so touching. I may never look at a rainbow in the same way again. Beautiful sentiment of where our loved ones are waiting for us. Rainbow Bridge, very nice indeed.
Thank you, so very much in participating in the “Working on Us” series! I so greatly appreciate you joining. 💗

    1. It was fun! I don’t think I’ve ever done a photo prompt before. On another note, this comment just now came in through my notifications. I didn’t even get an email to notify me. I’m sorry for bitching about WP a lot lately, but this is so frustrating!!

      1. I’m glad you enjoyed it and you did such an amazing piece!
Listen, I don’t think anyone bitches more about WP more than I do. They are really ticking so many people off. I just cleared out 8 Spam comments. 7 were legit! OYE! 🙄

        1. Thank you 😊Yeah, WP has been doing something new for me: not notifying me that I have comments until a day later. They also haven’t been notifying me if someone responds to a comment I left on their post or on mine!

          1. That’s ridiculous! 🙄 I used to check my spam at least everyother day, now I have to chek it daily. OH! I also have an issue with the Pending Comments… Over 100K in that folder. WTF? I have no idea what to do about that.🤪 😵

            1. 100k??? Wow! Do you have access to customer support or as they call it, Happiness Engineers”? It’s kind of a longshot but they may be able to help.

              1. Oh, sure… I’ve contacted the Wonderful Wizzards of WP, and they never have an answer for me in regards to that issue. I’ve lost count on how many times I’ve contacted them in regards to that mess.

  2. The rainbow bridge poem always makes me cry! Even though its not that sad! I miss my pets who’ve passed on. Every day!
