My husband and I usually travel somewhere for my birthday, and this year, despite the quarantine, was no exception. We went to the tiny, little town of Spring Green, Wisconsin, which is about a 2-1/2 hour drive from Chicago. Population 1600.
We stayed at an AirBnb so we barely saw anyone except the grocery store clerk (food isn’t included in AirBnbs), and the cashier at the restaurant where we got ice cream (that we ate outside and away from others). Oh, and the guy who delivered our food one night.
The AirBnb overlooked a golf course, but we didn’t see too many golfers (like about 10?), and they were well over 6 feet away. The property was gorgeous: lots of trees, a large yard. The view was awesome, just trees, trees, trees that will no doubt look spectacular in the fall.
Fortunately, the owner of the AirBnb allowed dogs, so Rudy came along. We bought one of those stakes with a 30-ft. cable attached that hooked onto his harness. That way he could explore (up to 30 ft.) and not be tied to a table leg or something. This gave him a chance to explore on his own, while still being on leash and in our sight.
The one thing that was a disappointment is that we chose not to go to House on the Rock because we were afraid it would be crowded. I was looking forward to it because I wanted to see the Infinity Room, which juts out quite a ways over a cliff (pictures of you click the link).
It was a great and relaxing trip over all. I wouldn’t mind returning one autumn to see those trees. And the House on the Rock!
